Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu are seeking to appoint Directors to Te Tauraki, the new Iwi Māori Partnership Board for the Ngāi Tahu takiwā.
Te Tauraki will provide direction on the delivery of a transformational health care system that meets health needs for Māori, is whānau centric, and provides for and properly resources kaupapa Māori primary health services. The Board will be the vehicle by which health and wellbeing aspirations within the Ngāi Tahu takiwā are promoted, bringing the voice and needs of whānau forward.
Under the Government’s new health care system, Iwi-Māori Partnership Boards act for the communities they represent at a local level, and jointly agree local priorities and delivery with Health New Zealand. The Board will have statutory functions which will be set out in the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act which is currently before Parliament.
We are seeking a diverse range of candidates to ensure the right mix of experience, expertise, technical competencies and fit with the values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, tikanga, rangatiratanga and tohungatanga.
There are seven board positions available, one of which will be appointed as the Chair.
The successful applicants will have:
- A foundation of capability across clinical health, service delivery, finance technology and complex data analysis, strategic planning, leadership, and governance within a Kaupapa Māori context and setting.
- A sound understanding and awareness of the Māori health needs, services, and priorities of whānau, hapū and Ngāi Tahu Whānui within the Ngāi Tahu takiwā.
- A well-established network and reputation with Papatipu Rūnanga, whānau, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Māori health providers.
- A strong understanding of Ngāi Tahu values in relation to health and disability and an ability to promote, articulate and apply these values through decision-making.
- Strength in tikanga Māori, with an emphasis on Ngāi Tahutanga, and Te Reo.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and its strategic application both within health and at a governance level.
- Broad based national exposure and experience that supports a solid understanding of both new and prevailing health legislation and government policy settings to be navigated to create “cut through” and deliver the desired outcomes for Ngāi Tahu Whānui within the Ngāi Tahu takiwā.
