Fixed term (August to December) part-time role, 28 hours per week

MTG Hawke’s Bay is an award-winning museum and one of Council’s most popular visitor experiences and cultural centre of Hawke’s Bay. We have an exciting opportunity for an education professional with relevant qualifications to join our education team.

The Museum Educator is responsible for the development and delivery of education programmes focused around the collections and exhibitions held by the museum. This roles enables you to have a positive impact on students’ learning outcomes in an education-rich, inspiring setting.

This role is also responsible for developing and delivering programmes for other groups such as school holiday programmes, after school programmes, tours and more throughout the entire year. This is a busy role and requires a creative, energetic, positive person who loves to engage as an educator. Teacher registration preferred but not essential.

About You

You are a passionate person with an innovative and collaborative approach to learning. You will also have:

  • Proven experience in developing learning opportunities for students aged 5 to 18 years
  • Recent experience in a teaching environment
  • Detailed understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum
  • Excellent understanding of Te Titiriti o Waitangi
  • Enthusiasm for delivering programmes
