Permanent, Full-time

80 hours per fortnight (1.0FTE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Nurse Educator to join the nursing team in our 13-bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit. Our unit admits a wide range of patients including medical, general and specialist surgical, orthopaedic, trauma, obstetric and paediatrics.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ critical care nursing experience with proven and exceptional ICU clinical skills, including Advanced Mechanical Ventilation, CRRT, and Paediatric skills. They will also require a relevant completed Post-Graduate Nursing Qualification, preferably Masters Degree (or working towards this), an approved expert Professional Nursing Portfolio (Level 4 or DSN), a relevant teaching qualification, and a completed Intensive Care Course at Post Graduate Level (or equivalent).

The purpose of this role is to develop and provide a nursing education plan for ICU nursing staff, identify staff learning needs, facilitate and run ICU-specific study days and training, work clinically with ICU nursing staff to develop their clinical skills, and meet all KPIs relevant to the Educator role. Assistance for preceptors and support for orientation of new staff is also a key part of this role. A high level of professionalism and a strong work ethic is essential, exceptional communication skills and proven teaching ability is required. The ICU employs about 80 permanent Registered Nurses, and regularly provides placement for nursing students.
