Te Tai Ōhanga – The Treasury is the New Zealand Government’s lead economic and financial adviser. Our vision is to lift living standards for all New Zealanders.
We have an opportunity for a Senior Analyst or Analyst to join our Regions, Enterprise and Economic Develop team. The team leads the Treasury’s advice across a broad range of areas, with a focus on delivering the government’s economic strategy. These include:
- economic and regional development
- the energy sector
- research, science and innovation
- small business and tourism.
Our work is wide ranging, touching on economic, fiscal and wider living standards dimensions, and drawing on a wide range of capabilities. We work closely with other teams across the Treasury and with agencies. This is a great opportunity to influence policy at the centre of government.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role
In this role, you will:
- provide advice to Ministers on proposals with significant economic and fiscal impacts, including Budget initiatives.
- work collaboratively across the Treasury and with agencies to develop free, frank and helpful advice.
- demonstrate and develop your relationship management and strategic policy skills.
As an Analyst, you will be responsible for our advice on one or more areas of spending and related policy issues, with support from other team members. As a Senior Analyst you will have opportunities to lead and mentor other staff, as well as contributing your own robust analytical and solution-focused thinking.
Ō pūmanawa | About You
You’re a high performer who is keen to further your development and broaden your experience. In addition to a tertiary qualification you will bring:
- strong analytical ability and an aptitude for critical thinking
- excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly
- intellectual curiosity and receptiveness to different viewpoints
- the ability to work collaboratively with others and develop solutions.
Public policy experience or a familiarity with economic or financial analysis would be an advantage, but we are interested in candidates from a broad range of backgrounds. For Senior Analyst roles, applicants will typically have at least four and a half years of relevant experience.
