Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two permanent Student Fees Advisors to join the Student Finance team. The Student Fees Advisors ensure the efficient and effective management of student fee policies and processes (including debt management) as an integral part of the enrolment process. These roles sit within the Student Operations Team in the new Tītoko – Centre for Student Success.

Tītoko is an innovative student-focused centre established to extend the student-university relationship in new ways that increase students’ ability to succeed academically. Tītoko is responsible for providing streamlined, consistent and integrated services that meet the needs of our diverse population.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide students and staff with reliable and timely fees, payment advice and related policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with Studylink to ensure the timely return of student study, fee and refund details.
  • Administer invoicing, student fee refunds, fee reconsiderations and levy rebates.
  • Provide professional and effective management of student debt levels.
  • Provide effective management of specialist fees contracts.

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration and enjoy supporting students to help them succeed.

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament. You will pick up new skills, knowledge and software quickly and be able to adapt to a changing environment. You will proactively be able to create good working relationships with key staff and know the importance of seeking feedback to continually improve the service you deliver.

Key Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated relevant experience in finance or accounting.
  • Previous experience in providing financial planning or budgeting advice.
  • Previous experience of a strong client-centric approach to delivering excellent customer service or client services.
  • Proven ability to work to a very high standard of accuracy, with an appreciation of the importance of data integrity.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve, prioritise and manage conflicting workloads.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proactive in developing new skills, knowledge and software quickly and being able to adapt to a busy and changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and friendly manner with a multicultural client base.
