About the Role│Kōrero mō te tūranga
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Forest and Landuse Adviser in our Forest Development, Grants and Partnerships directorate located in Dunedin. In this technical role you will play a part in delivering the Government’s vision to provide an advisory service within the forest industry.
The Forest Development, Grants and Partnerships directorate is responsible for implementing policy initiatives to support sustainable land management, the use of our forestry resources and New Zealand’s climate change responsibilities. The Forest and Landuse Advice team covers the length of the country – supporting landowners from Northland to Southland through operational advice, implementation, and management of forestry and sustainable land management activities.
The Key responsibilities for the role are (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with monitoring of the One Billion Trees Funding Programme contracts.
- Assisting with any field operational work and process improvements under the Emissions Trading Scheme.
- Working closely with stakeholders and landowners to promote and advise on land management programmes.
- Providing advice for land management policy development and service design programmes using stakeholder perspectives.
- Providing backup, support and advice to technical (GIS) and Indigenous Forestry teams and for adverse events when required.
- Providing coaching, support and advice to advisers and scholarship students.
About You│Mōu
We are looking for someone that is passionate about trees, forestry and land management. The successful applicant will demonstrate the following attributes:
- Be experienced in managing and delivering projects, strong written communication skills and good time-management skills.
- Displays leadership qualities, including thought leadership, within respective areas of expertise.
- Excellent relationship management and workshop facilitation skills by creating and maintaining an effective relationship network both internally and externally.
- You will need to have a good level of fitness, enjoy the outdoors and be equally capable of working alone or part of a team.
- You will be required to travel for undertaking both work and training purposes, so must have the ability to be away for short periods of time as required.
