Te Omanga Hospice is offering a Registrar Training Rotation in Palliative Medicine for six months full time or six months FTE part time (negotiable) starting after April 2022. This is a fixed term contract.
Initially, this will be in the Hospice 8 bed In-Patient unit, with the option for community experience later in the run. This is a great opportunity to improve Palliative Medicine knowledge and skills in symptom control and communication which are valuable in any career in Medicine.
Trainees are supported, and strongly encouraged to complete the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine during the run. RACP and GPEP Trainees are eligible. For more information follow the link below:

Te Omanga Hospice is an accredited site for training by the RACP for Basic and Advanced RACP Trainees. This run also counts for training towards Fellowship of the Royal NZ College of GPs (FRNZCGP).

The Te Omanga Hospice medical team consists of four Palliative Medicine Specialists and one Specialist Medical officer. An RACP Registrar and a House Surgeon are also part of the team. We have strong commitment to education and training and will start by helping you establish clear learning goals for the run. Non-clinical time is rostered for completing the requirements of the RACP Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine. We deliver excellent Specialist Palliative Care to our patients and work within a strong wider team of Specialist Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, and a superb Family Support Team consisting of counselling, social work, Art and Music Therapies, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. We deliver truly holistic care. There are ~120 patients under the care of Te Omanga Hospice at any one time, and the bulk of our work is with patients and whanau in their own home.
You are a Registrar seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge to deliver excellent Palliative Care in whatever area of medicine you will ultimately practice. You are looking for a training opportunity where you can enhance your communication skills. You are keen to work in a service that provides patient-centered holistic care.
The position is fixed term, and the start date is negotiable around the end of April 2022. The position is full time or part time 6 months FTE by negotiation
