We currently have a full-time opportunity for a qualified Landscape Architect and/or Experienced Garden Designer to join our growing Design Team.  We offer flexible working hours, a competitive salary and did we mention five (yes 5!) weeks of Annual Leave?

ABOUT YOU

You will be a creative, skilled and people-oriented individual with at least 4 years’ professional experience.  You will have experience in all aspects of residential garden design including spatial design, planting design and documentation.  It goes without saying that you will be a self-starter and a quick learner, but you must also possess:

• A proven track record in landscape architecture/garden design with a creative and analytical eye.
• The ability to assist in leading a small team and inspiring others.
• A clear understanding of the garden design and landscape industry in NZ, (or internationally for the right candidate).
• Exceptional communication, collaboration and time management skills.
• A solution-focussed mindset.

It would be great if you also had:

• Strong technical skills with a flair for visual presentation using a variety of software programs.  Experience with CAD software, Adobe suite and Microsoft Office is essential.
• Experience with Vectorworks is preferred, however not absolutely necessary for the right candidate.
• An in-depth knowledge of local authority processes, codes and regulations.
• Experience in pool and structural design and consenting would be an advantage.
• A background in Engineering or Architectural Design.
• Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) or relevant experience in Residential Landscape Architecture – some commercial design experience would be a plus.  For the right candidate we would look at people in the architectural or engineering fields looking for a change of scenery.
• Good plant or horticultural knowledge is a bonus, but not essential.
• Hand drawing skills would be advantageous.
• Design experience in an international setting would be advantageous.
• Ability to speak multiple languages is also favourable.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Alongside the Design Manager, you will be leading and developing a small team of Designers with the overall aim of creating an all-in-one design offering; completed to the high standard expected from our discerning clients.

While you will carry out your own design work as part of a supportive team, we are looking for someone to aid the growth and development of our Design Division.  A bit about the role, you will:

• Be the Lead Landscape Architect in our small Design Team and ensure the delivery of quality, innovative garden designs.
• Work collaboratively with our small team of Designers, along with well-known external designers in Auckland.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with other divisions.
• Be happy to do a little bit of admin.

You will still have leadership of your own projects, with the ability to independently:

• Carry out basic site surveys and assessments.
• Liaise confidently with clients, Second Nature employees and other industry professionals, for the duration of a project.
• Prepare and submit applications such as Resource and Building Consents.
• Prepare plans, construction drawings and specifications.
