This unique and multifaceted role will assist in running Barbara’s electorate and parliamentary offices. You’ll work collaboratively to ensure everything goes smoothly day in and day out, even though no two days are the same. You’ll be stepping into an environment that is challenging, exciting, and rewarding.

This role is varied, on any given day your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting in the provision of high-quality advice and advocacy to constituents in your community, including welfare calling
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships in the community and at Parliament
  • Managing Barbara’s diary and coordinating travel bookings
  • Managing and responding to correspondence and emails
  • Maintaining the Mana electorate inbox workflow and database administration

You will also have the ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality on any matter with discretion and an earnest presence of mind.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be impartial in your role, however awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

To ensure our people feel supported and enabled to develop their knowledge and careers, you will receive a Parliamentary Service induction which will set you up to succeed within this environment, as well as ongoing learning and development opportunities.

This is an events-based, fixed-term role linked to the MP, working 30 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required and can be negotiated for the right candidate. There will be a requirement to work some school holidays.

The appointing salary band for this role is $55,752 to $69,690 per annum (pro-rated to 30 hours). Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
