We create
word-class online language-learning courses for English speakers across the globe. We are a small team of passionate language-lovers who are inspired by the awesome potential that language has to connect people and to expand horizons. We’re all about building a culturally connected world through the power of language.

We were founded in 2004 after Christchurch-based founder (and current CEO), Jason Oxenham, struggled to learn French the traditional way. After much research, the first courses to be created were in Spanish and French. Fast-forward to 2022 and we are now a recognized global leader in online language learning, offering 14 languages, more than 30 language-learning products, and over 2 million members. With an average user rating of 4.7 (out of 5), we pride ourselves on world-class products for our learners.

As part of our mission to create the most effective language learning courses possible, we are looking for the right addition to our Christchurch-based product development team.
This role is a part-time position, to be billed hourly. Hours are flexible and must be worked from our Ferrymead office.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • An extremely keen eye for detail, structure and logic.
  • An excellent fluent command of English.
  • A linguistic background, such as a degree in a foreign language.
  • An openness to learning new ways of doing things.
  • The ability to follow complicated instructions well.
  • An understanding and passion for processes and quality.
  • The ability to think on your feet and pick up new digital systems quickly.
  • An enthusiasm for getting things right, even when things aren’t going your way.
  • Great organizational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative team.

Any of the following would make your application stand out:

  • A gift for writing, both creatively and technically.
  • Qualifications in a second language.

  • Proofreading experience.
