Our Diversional Therapsits develop engaging programmes which are person-centred, flexible and responsive.
About the Role
As a Support Worker in our Day Centre, you will be responsible for facilitating individual Elders recreation plans and wider recreation programmes for the Centre. This involves working as part of a team to run daily activities and support our Elders to pursue their interests. You will also encourage Elders to maintain their independence, learn new skills and maintain connections within their community.
This is an ideal opportunity for you to give back to others and spend time getting to know our Elders, many of whom will be happy to share with you their passions and just what they have achieved in their lifetime!
This role offers permanent part time hours (16 hours per week) and would require the ability to be available for shifts during the hours of Monday to Friday, 09.00-16.30.
About You
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be creative, patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and a sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will be a great team player but also able to work alone.
In addition, you will have:
- A genuine interest in supporting our Elders, some aged care experience is ideal, as the ability to relate to older people is important
- You may hold a relevant qualification, but if you don’t have one – we can help you with that!
- Ability to listen to people and work with them to meet their individual needs is essential, this may include their social, emotional, physical, or cultural well-being
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s license
- Covid 19 vaccination passport, including booster if eligible
