Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Wheeled Mobility Service at Capital and Coast DHB. We are looking for an Allied Health Assistant to join our growing team working across CCDHB. The person in these role will work along side Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to support them with work with people requiring wheelchair, seating and postural management
The successful applicant will have a busy and varied day, working across a range of settings and with a varity of people. This position is in a friendly and supportive team. If you are physically fit, hardworking, reliable and keen to learn, it may be the role for you.
The role will be based at Kenepuru Hospital with the post holder working across the whole of the DHB area providing a service in clients home, place of residents or the outpatient setting.
Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
- Support patients with their rehabilitation and therapy in their own homes or community setting
- Assist Allied Health Professional working with patients in groups or one to one
- Deliver and set up equipment in patient-s homes
Moū – About you
- At least 24 months previous experience in a healthcare setting working with older people or experience of being in a caring role
- Understanding of impact of age / illness / disability on ability to achieve day to day living activities
- Evidence of ability to work alone with patients in home / community settings
- Good self-awareness around abilities and limitations
- A good understanding of the roles of Allied Health Professionals i.e. Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy
- Competent using basic computer systems e.g. email and word processing.
- Holder of National Certificate in Community Support (level 3) Core Competencies or National Certificate in Health, Disability and Aged Support (level 3) (Health Assistants – Rehabilitation Assistance or Health Assistance strand) or equivalent (or willingness to complete one of these qualifications)
- Full Driver-s license
