We are looking for a bubbly, confident and friendly new barista to join our team. This is a permanent part time role of approx 20 hours but could develop into more. You need to be able to work at least one weekend shift.
The ideal candidate will:
* have barista experience
*be open to coaching and training of our specialty coffee methods
* be able to do at least one 5am start in the week and at least one weekend shift. Shifts finish no later than 3pm. There is flexibility to work with the ideal candidate for a regular working pattern of days and shifts but there is flexibility needed.
*be able to primarily work in Lower Hutt (we work in Wellington on a Sunday too) and be able to reliably get to work on time.
*be able to work in an often fast paced environment but also show initiative to work productivity during quieter patches
* be an excellent, helpful and professional team player
*be able to work independently as you will need to open and close the shops alone sometimes
* be able to chat and provide excellent customer service- we pride ourselves on the service we give to our customers so we want someone outgoing who can stand and chat or smooth over a crowd when wait/queue times are long
*be able to multitask – we have coffee orders, food orders, food prep, money handling and maths happening all at once! Plus the brilliant banter between staff and customers
*be open to learning some basic baking
*be able to handle, prep and serve food to the correct standards
* in addition to the barista role and general customer service be able and willing to carry out all the other job requirements such as cleaning, stock takes, more cleaning, pack downs etc.
*happy to work in smaller spaces – our business is primarily takeaway inside coffee carts and a converted container. Space is tight and you work alongside 1, sometimes 2 other people and there isn’t a huge amount of room. This is why finding the right personality to fit the team and space is so important. We’re a team. A little coffee family. We support each other. We look after each other. We step in, we step up when someone else needs something. We hire people who will work well with out mini coffee family.
*be flexible to weekly rosters. They don’t change drastically but minor changes happen often. Be ready to step in, swap shifts or take on extra hours if they’re available.
