At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and genuinely understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

We are making significant changes to how we deliver our mahi by

  • Taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Giving priority to regional and local voice.
  • Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support.
  • Improving feedback loops and information flows.

Our organisation is made up of talented and committed people across Aotearoa from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.

About our group and team

This is a great time to join the Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Group – as it reshapes itself for the future and takes on more proactive brand and communications approach. This new role within the Brand and Corporate Communications Team is seen as a key enabler for the wider group and Ministry as we move to new ways of working and focus on delivering the future educations system.

Mōhou ake | About you

You will be a sharp planner, adept at working strategically across all aspects of brand, and be a genuine team player. Building resilient relationships comes as second nature and working to pro-actively to champion and build our organisations brand amongst our internal customers’, partners and the education sector are a core focus. In what is an ever-changing and fast paced environment you will be a key enabler for our brand within the context of wider business change activity.

You’ll have a track record of developing brands in complex and diverse organisations, both from a strategic view and tactical delivery standpoint.

In short you will become the ‘go-to person’ for brand across Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

Critical to this role is a strong focus on our key customers’ needs and proven relationship-building skills. Given we are moving to a new way of working, senior level brand communications experience within a nationally dispersed and large organisation is essential.

This is a fixed term role until March 2023, but we would consider part-time or flexible hours for the right candidate.
