About the team

The Southern Rivers Community Mental Health team (Gore / Clutha catchment) is an adult service which provides outpatient clinics and outreach services to people living in the wider Gore/Clutha area.

About the role – About you

This 20 hour a week role will require good time management skills to enable your assessment, planning, and delivery of effective clinical psychology interventions for patients, you’ll actively participate in individual and group therapies. Ensuring the continued wellbeing of your clients will see you liaising with other clinical psychologists within the organisation to maintain consistent links and treatments for clients.

You will be a motivated individual, keen to make a difference and who thrives in a busy and diverse working environment. It goes without saying you will possess excellent communication and team working skills and will be able to work well under pressure and challenging situations. Having experience of working with adult patients with mental illness in a community setting, this role which combines a wide range of psychological services including risk assessment, diagnostics, formulation and treatment planning and psychotherapy for people experiencing both acute and longstanding psychological conditions and issues.

You will provide optimal treatment through thorough assessment and continued multi-disciplinary team co-ordination of treatment. The Clinical Psychologist is an integral and valued member of the MDT responsible for the provision of patient-centred interventions and we want a like-minded individual to join our small team of Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses and Social Workers.

Ideally you would be based in Balclutha providing services across the wider district, there would however be the expectation of travel to Gore from time to time.

To be considered for this role you must be a Registered Clinical Psychologist with The NZ Psychologist’s Board, with a clinical scope of practice, hold a current practising certificate and NZ driver’s licence to apply for this role.
