Mō te tūnga | About the role
Our Service provides care for children, adolescents and young adults with cancer throughout the South Island, and the lower part of the North Island. Clinical trials participation is a crucial component of cancer care and we are members of the US Children-s Oncology Group, Australian New Zealand Children-s Haematology Oncology Group and other international trial groups.
This Clinical Research Associate role will entail planning, undertaking, reporting and coordinating research in the South Island Child Cancer Service. This involves the regulatory submissions and management of research. This is a fixed term, part-time (24 hours per week) position working Monday to Friday, till 30th of June 2023. This role is based at Christchurch Waipapa Hospital.
This role is responsible for:
- Coordinating study start-ups, opening and management of international and local clinical trials
- Complete applications for the Ethics Committee and Multi-centre studies
- Managing the Clinical database includes data entry
- Coordinating projects and document control
- Provide clinical research or data as required
- Maintain a current knowledge base of paediatric oncology research studies and treatment
- Provide a quality service

We are looking for someone who has a background in research or data management. To be successful in this role, you should be able to work independently as well as part of a team. This role is within a fast-paced environment and therefore you should be able to work with speed and accuracy as well as being able to prioritise work. This role will require you to take initiative and network across the organisation.

This role requires the following:
- Life Sciences Degree, preference is a postgraduate or masters qualification
- Experience in a similar field
- Knowledge of research methodology and data management
- Knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines and local and international regulatory requirements
- Understanding and ability to interpret paediatric oncology health information from patient clinical records
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access)
- Organisational and prioritisation skills
- Problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy skills
