Permanent, part time, 0.8 FTE
Applications are invited for a Consultant Dermatologist. The successful applicant will join a department of 12 Consultant Physicians who have subspecialty interests in General Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, Renal and Rheumatology.
We are keen to consider candidates seeking employment who have specialist qualifications registrable in New Zealand.
The Dermatologist role is focussed on adult services (paediatrics is serviced by another consultant). In addition to clinics you will also be available to review inpatients on request from colleagues. There is no expected on call however collegial advice may be sought from time to time after hours.
The Department of Medicine has a strong track record with education and training, and the successful incumbent will be expected to participate and contribute to the department’s CME activities, including basic & advanced trainee registrar teaching, audit and medical student teaching.
Taranaki Base Hospital, situated in New Plymouth, is a progressive regional secondary referral centre for the province of Taranaki with a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. A well-equipped Radiology Department provides a wide range of diagnostic and some interventional procedures. There is an excellent Laboratory Service and the IT service is among the best in the country.
Stage Two of the building development will see the construction of a 20,000m2, six-storey building housing many of Taranaki Base Hospital’s acute clinical services including ED, ICU, Maternity, Primary Birthing, Neonatal, Radiology, Laboratory and a roof-top helipad.
Taranaki is situated on the west coast of the lower North Island of New Zealand with a population of approximately 120,000. It is an area with outstanding scenery, is an excellent and affordable place to live and raise a family, with excellent educational facilities. The mountain to surf environment encourages outdoor living and recreational activities which are all available within minutes of New Plymouth, the provincial capital.
