Te Hiranga Pūhanga Hiko | Electric Power Engineering Centre (EPECentre)

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We have an opportunity for an Education and Outreach Coordinator to join our EPECentre team. In this role, you will contribute towards the coordination of the Power Engineering Excellence Trust (PEET) activities (EPECentre’s Education and Outreach portfolio), including events, sponsorship and scholarships.

You will be responsible for the reporting to the PEET Board, acting as the administrator of the Trust and will support the Trustees in the development of their mission and the launch of new projects. You will provide a wide range of services such as events coordination, stakeholders’ communication, marketing and budgeting.

A component of this role will also be providing administrative support to EPECentre.

Mōu | Who You Are
You have significant coordination experience working in an educational, outreach or technical industry environment, and experience of organising/managing events. You are competent with setting and controlling budgets as well as database management. You preferably have experience delivering effective communications through a range of channels (online and social media) and a knowledge of the New Zealand Power Industry.

You are self-motivated in delivering high quality results and a have high degree of initiative and creative mindset. You are confident working with a wide variety of people to quickly develop effective professional relationships, including the ability to relate to people with varying backgrounds, education, and seniority.

EPECentre, a joint initiative between the electricity industry and the University of Canterbury, was established in 2002 as an entrepreneurial endeavour. It brings together industry, researchers, academia and students to foster innovation. The EPECentre has two distinct areas of operation: Research & Innovation and Education & Outreach.

Power Engineering Excellence Trust (PEET) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2002 by industry and academia to ensure a pipeline of power engineering talent and has currently about 25 Industry members with the objective to grow. PEET’s mission is to inspire and enable tomorrow’s power engineering talent by sharing responsibility, knowledge and opportunity across academia and industry.

PEET activities are supported through a collaborative partnership with the EPECentre, our student interface at the University of Canterbury (UC), through EPECentre’s area of operation Education & Outreach.
