We are looking for an engineering student to join us this summer to work in our new Future Fuels team on our low emissions future.
Working with our experts in the future fuels space, you will get to work on an interesting and commercially ‘real’ project that adds value – “Understanding the cost vs. scale economics of AD (anaerobic digestion) and biogas upgrading facilities”. This project could include:
- Doing market analysis to build a broad picture of organic waste supplies including typical scale, geographic dispersion/consolidation
- Researching competing uses of such waste
- Doing economic analysis of AD and gas upgrading depending on location and size vs competing uses
- Identification of key drivers of economic viability e.g. feedstock transport distance, distance from pipeline, other
- Researching technology development and what they could mean
- Presenting conclusions on where Firstgas should focus attention for largest economic and carbon footprint benefits
This role is more than an internship – as well as earning the living wage and getting to be in a ‘cohort’ with our other interns , you will have access to support and coaching that will grow you both personally and professionally. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to community initiatives we support.
Our shortlisted candidates will be invited to our Assessment Day on 31 August 2022 ( your flights/accommodation to New Plymouth are on us!)
To be successful in this summer role you will need:
You will be in the final or penultimate year of your engineering study (general, chemical or mechanical engineering) and ideally will have completed a business related project as part of your course work.
You will have:
- Excellent data collection, analysis and presentation skills
- Good communication and team skills
- An interest in the energy or food industry
- Be outgoing and able to communicate with industry
