Family Works is an initiative of Presbyterian Support Southland and we offer a widespread range of support services to families/whānau, children and young people in the region. About the Role:
A permanent part time position (20 hours per week) has become available for a Family/Whānau Worker to support our Te Anau and Manapouri families.
The key objective for the role is to deliver the Family Start Programme to clients in their homes. To improve health, education and welfare outcomes and to meet the standards required by Family Works for the delivery of the Programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining relationships with families and whānau
- Undertake Family Start programme needs assessments
- Developing, reviewing and monitoring family plans
- Attending and actively participating in Supervision sessions
To be successful in the role you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in social services, health, education or a related field.
- To be a member of a professional association or be willing to work towards joining.
- A working knowledge of Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and other relevant NZ legislation
- Experience and passion for working with children, young people, and families.
- The ability to prioritise and manage caseloads effectively.
- Previous experience working collaboratively with colleagues and external providers from other disciplines.
- The commitment to providing services in the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi.
- A current full clean New Zealand driver’s licence
