Ngā Puna Mātauraka | Library

  • Part-time fixed-term role 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
  • Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm

  • Part-time fixed-term role 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
  • Monday to Thursday 8:30am-1:00pm, Friday 4:45 – 9:15

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We are looking for two enthusiastic Library Assistants to provide excellent on campus and online services at the Puna (Library), with the goal of enhancing student retention and success.

As a member of a large diverse team that works across our library network, you will participate in potential improvements to deliver quality library support, advice, and services. You will be passionate about engaging with people, diversity, makerspace, and continuous improvement. Whether it’s printing reports, championing te reo Māori, showing a student how to 3D print, assisting with events/marketing, locating missing items or solving problems, good communication and time management skills are a must. There will always be more than one task on the go at any given time in this varied role.

Mōu | Who You Are

are an empathetic ‘can do’ person who has a passion for delivering on-campus and online services in an academic library. You demonstrate a high level of initiative that allow you to work collaboratively and independently.

You will have experience working in a Library, office, or customer service environment. You have a knowledge of library and administrative procedures and systems, excellent computer literacy skills, with proven ability to learn and grow knowledge for relevant software and technology.

Additionally, you have an active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga (protocols and processes), kawa (rules) of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.

Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
You will work alongside a diverse professional Library team who provide a range of services, resources and expertise that support undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching, and that enhance world leading research and innovation. They do this through the provision of information resources, reference and information services, digital literacy programmes, e-learning support and academic liaison, research support including repositories, Māori and Pacific support, and through our heritage collections.
