Located in Ōtautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New Zealand

  • Full-time at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Fixed Term (8 months) position

The role of the Kaitohutohu Ākonga | Future Student Advisor is to educate future students about the learning opportunities at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. In line with strategic recruitment plans and targets, the Kaitohutohu Ākonga will recruit these students, with a focus on connection with Māori and Pacific future students, to the University. The ability to build and nurture strong relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds is pivotal to the role.

In an effort to achieve this, some domestic travel will be required in order to build effective relationships with schools, kura, stakeholders, careers advisors and students across the South Island through presentations, face-to-face appointments and events.

Naturally, you will have an outgoing personality, with a passion and enthusiasm for working in the Education Sector. Creativity and innovative thinking will come naturally to you, and you will have success in sales or account management. You will have excellent communication and people skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a range of key stakeholders. Your proven presentation skills and your confidence to address a wide variety of audiences is essential to be successful in this role. Integrity, independence and good time management are also important attributes of the right person.

Ideally you will have a formal bachelor’s degree qualification with some experience in marketing, advisory, or sales.
