Due to an increased seasonal demand, we have an exciting opportunity for a part time lab assistant to join the team at Analytical Research Laboratories (ARL) in a 6 month fixed term role.
ARL is a high throughput agricultural laboratory which is responsible for the analysis of 100,000 samples per year across soil, plant, water, feed quality and fertiliser. To achieve this the teamwork with state-of-the-art instrumentation, a high degree of automation and modern analytical techniques. For each of our customers, we believe that data is vital when it comes to enabling smarter farming for a better New Zealand.
About the Role
Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader, you will primarily be responsible for running the wash up area in the laboratory. This includes rinsing, running the dishwashers, drying and putting away of our reusable laboratory glass and plastic ware. In addition, there may be the opportunity to work with the lab assistant team in the soil testing area of the Business. You will undertake work in both supervised and unsupervised situations while closely following documented procedures. While this role is for 25 hours a week, at peak times, There may be opportunity for more hours. Hours of work are flexible, within a Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm operation.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:
- A high level of self-motivation and initiative
- The ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
- A high level of attention to detail
- The ability to understand and follow processes and systems
Previous experience in a commercial laboratory environment would be an advantage.
