Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We invite applications for a continuing position of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor to join our dynamic and evolving School. You will contribute to the vibrancy of the School’s research culture and teach into the Applied Mathematics programme. Specifically, we are seeking colleagues whose interests and proven research record includes Fluid Mechanics and/or Dynamical systems. You will be required to undertake research and a range of teaching responsibilities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as supervising research (postgraduate) students. Our School is situated within the Faculty of Engineering | Te Kaupeka Pūhanga Faculty of Engineering; you will be expected to build collaborations and strengthen our connections with the departments within the Faculty.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be expected to hold (or obtain) a PhD Degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics or a relevant discipline (or NZQA Level 10 equivalent qualification). Ideally, you will have at least five years of research experience (inclusive of Doctoral study) and an internationally recognised research record that is demonstrated by recent, relevant, high quality publications.
You will have an ability and willingness to deliver high quality teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will have experience delivering teaching that enables effective learning for a wide range of learners. You will be comfortable in working situations that require adaptability as we transform our teaching via judicious use of digital technology.
You will bring a creative and curious attitude to your teaching and research, and have an open-minded viewpoint that respects diversity of thought. You are someone who is resilient and a blue-sky thinker, who is future-focussed and keen to contribute to our School and our students’ success.
You will have an active commitment to upholding the values, tikanga, kawa of cultural practice and traditions as guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
If applying for senior lecturer and above, you will also have demonstrated a background in supervising final year undergraduate projects, Masters and PhD students, an ability in collaborating with others, as well as an appetite for contributing to Departmental, Faculty, and University activities. If applying at Associate Professor or Professor Level you must provide evidence of effective Academic Leadership.

The appointable salary range will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant and covered by the academic and associated staff collective employment agreement:
Lecturer $82,882 – $100,954, Senior Lecturer $106,258 – $120,514, Senior Lecturer above the bar $125,819 – $133, 110, Associate Professor $138,251 – $149,026 or Professor $158,390 – $199,137.
