We have an exciting opportunity to join Te Puna Rōia/the Legal team in this newly established Fixed-term contract role as Legal Practice Adviser. Te Puna Rōia contributes to the vision of Te Tai Ōhanga by providing robust and solutions-focused legal advice to effectively manage legal risk and implement projects. Te Puna Rōia works closely with policy and operational teams across Te Tai Ōhanga to advise on a range of public and commercial law issues

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

As Legal Practice Adviser you will play a critical role in supporting the Tumu Whakarae ā-Ture /Treasury Solicitor and Kaiwhakahaere Rōia/Legal Managers to ensure the legal teams work in collaboration and in partnership with the rest of the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining end-to-end system/processes to provide strong and effective support to Te Puna Rōia
  • Ensuring the administrative systems and processes within Te Puna Rōia are fit-for-purpose
  • Managing workflow, planning, resource allocation and prioritisation of work
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to one direct report in their role, including developing their skills and capabilities

The Legal Practice Adviser is part of the operational backbone of Te Puna Rōia and plays a critical role in leading an effective culture within the wider team.

You are a highly organised self-starter with great attention to detail and a passion for delivering a high standard of project coordination and administrative support.

To be successful in this role you will bring with you:

  • A practical and pro-active approach
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems that support specialist teams.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex environment
  • Demonstrated high levels of integrity
  • Experience working with legal teams in government or in the private sector would be advantageous.
