COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
Purpose of the Position
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates, and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation, and quality improvement activities within the District to guide the ongoing development of clinical practice. The position will provide clinical consultation services and clinical leadership within NSLHD CYMHS Safe Guards Team inclusive of CYMHS community and inpatient services and other early intervention services and comprehensive psychiatric assessment and management of patients referred to the service, in addition to being part of multi-disciplinary reviews and team meetings. As a staff specialist within the Child & Youth Mental Health service (CYMHS), the post-holder will also participate in a CYMHS staff-specialist on-call roster for NSLHD.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist (FRANZCP) with Child and Adolescent sub-specialty qualifications (RANZCP Advanced Training Certificate or equivalent) or other specialist recognition by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered

- High level interpersonal and communication skills and experience/involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of clinical practice guidelines relating to the assessment and management of child and adolescent mental health
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, and the ability to lead and participate in collaborative research activities
- Relevant clinical mental health experience in a community setting, which includes working with children and adolescents and their families
- Experience in teaching psychiatry to medical, nursing and allied health students/staff, psychiatry trainees and others as required and a willingness for ongoing involvement in such activities
- Demonstrated interest in improvement of clinical governance of mental health services, including quality improvement methodologies, experience or willingness to participate in clinical research and a commitment to fostering this interest in medical staff and other clinicians
