Ara Poutama Aotearoa Health Services lead the delivery of patient-focused primary health care services to tāngata within corrections facilities across Aotearoa. Hōkai Rangi, nation-wide strategy, places the focus on health at the heart of our Mahi (work). Our focus to drive and support equity for Māori, by building our frameworks from Matauranga Māori, which in turn will contribute to achieving our outcomes of reducing reoffending.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are looking for an inspired Part time Nurse Practitioner to lead the way with this pivotal role. Reporting to the Health Centre Manager this role will be integral to providing comprehensive healthcare to those in our care at Otago Corrections Facility, Milton – Dunedin area.

Ensuring a high standard of health care and nursing services is delivered, promoting best practice.

Recognised as an authority in primary health care practice, the Nurse Practitioner is a clinical expert and will provide expert nursing assessment and care delivery. This nursing led service is a wonderful opportunity for you to led and develop the healthcare of the people in our management.

In particular, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership
  • Screen, assess, diagnose and prescribe
  • Manage medicine and prescribe
  • Provide emergency response
  • Plan care for acute and long-term conditions
  • Refer patients as required

Mōu | About you

Are you a registered Nurse in the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice who has the following:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of medical, legal and ethical responsibilities when providing healthcare and prescribing
  • Recognised as a nurse leader
  • Excellent team member with strong decision-making, facilitation and communication
  • Able to handle ambiguity and complexity
  • High standard of cultural competency with a continued desire to learn will be an advantage as we align our model and way of working to our organisation’s values – Manaaki, Rangitira, Whānau, Kaitiaki, Wairua.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The salary range is $91,953 to $129,816 pro rata. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
