Service: Child Development Service

Contract: Fixed Term (until June 2023), Part Time (0.4FTE / 16 hours per week)

Salary: As per MECA

We are seeking qualified applicants for a part time (16 hours per week) Occupational Therapist position based within the Child Development Service. Consideration will be given to a registered Occupational Therapist who has a wide range of paediatric experience particularly with preschool children with developmental delays, or disabilities, and their families/whanau. This is a fixed term position and will be focussed on reducing wait times. The majority of the work will be screening, assessment and short term interventions.

The position is currently based at Kenepuru Hospital, Porirua but the applicant could negotiate being based at another site and must be available to work on all Child Development sites across the region (Wellington to Kapiti) as the service requires. We welcome applications from qualified clinicians with a commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving outcomes for pēpī and tamariki with or at risk of having a disability.

CDS is a multi-disciplinary team providing specialist developmental assessments and interventions for children who have, or are at risk of, an intellectual, sensory or physical disability and children with an autism spectrum disorder. We use a holistic approach to enable children with disabilities to reach their maximum potential within their families and extended environment.

  • OT Qualification
  • Practicing Certificate from New Zealand OT Board
  • Accreditation with Enable for equipment and housing ‘ ideal but not essential
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with children with disabilities
  • Eligibility to drive in New Zealand (international, restricted or full licence)
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand
