ABI Rehabilitation is the specialist provider of brain injury rehabilitation. We are one of only two providers in Australasia to have attained CARF Accreditation, an international gold standard for person centred quality rehabilitation. The position is based within our West Auckland Residential Rehabilitation Service. This is a busy role, as you will be working across the ABI Residential Service houses providing occupational therapy interventions for a wide range of clients following severe traumatic brain injury.
A full time position has become available for a dedicated occupational therapist with excellent communication, strong clinical reasoning, and excellent time management skills. You must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, being able to communicate with a variety of clients, their families, case managers, rehabilitation assistant staff and a small but passionate interdisciplinary team.
The case load is varied and key areas include:
- Goal setting
- Functional assessment, and development of safety/rehabilitation protocols
- Physical and cognitive assessment and rehabilitation
- Setting up and participating in client leisure and recreational activities
- Community reintegration and supporting discharge home.
- Assessment and equipment provision and supporting external assessors with more complex equipment provision including personal care and positioning equipment, along with wheelchairs and seating systems.
- Education of clients, their families and rehabilitation assistants.
- The successful applicant will a NZ Registered Occupational Therapist, with at least two years post graduate Occupational Therapy experience.
