To be successful in this role, you will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, experience in customer service and the ability to manage a diverse range of tasks. You will be a team player who has a passion for assisting and interacting with people from all walks of life.
In this role you will:
Collaborate with the Collections Team on the development and maintenance of the children’s and parenting collections.
Connect children and their whanau with Library services and programmes.
Undertake customer service enquiries.
Outreach to ECE and junior classrooms to promote the library and early literacy.
Share knowledge and resources across the libraries with other teams in the early literacy field.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in ECE and/or be from a junior teaching background and/or a children’s Librarian.
Knowledge and understanding of early childhood literacy development and resources.
Effective digital literacy skills.
Experience in a customer service environment.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite of Applications, 365 and internet technologies, including social media.
A full driver’s license and the willingness to drive work cars.
General knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety principles.
A positive attitude for developing your knowledge base in or early literacy or children’s librarianship and joining relevant professional organisations
We are looking for someone that has a genuine interest in the library/education fields and shows a willingness to stay updated with information and emerging trends, especially in early literacy development. The hours of work for this role are 25 hours per week and includes rostered weekend work.
