This role is an opportunity for you to use your expertise in the health and social services sector to help drive strategic initiatives and support and support to improve sector performance against Māori mental health and addictions indicators.

The key focus of this role is to provide the Mental Health and Addiction Service (MHAS) expert cultural and strategic advice and direction towards achieving its goal of accelerating health outcomes by improving the Hawke’s Bay District Health Boards (HBDHB) capacity and responsiveness to Māori.

To apply for the role, you must have the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in health, project management or a related field, at degree level or above coupled with relevant experience.
  • 10-12 years’ experience working within the social service and or health sector.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging effectively with whaiora and their whānau, hapū, iwi..
  • Demonstrate a level of fluency in Te Reo Māori.
  • Demonstrated understanding of kaupapa Māori models of care.
  • Ability to advocate MHAS obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi 1840.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the New Zealand mental health and addiction structure, legislation, policy and services
  • Demonstrated experience in equity analysis and developing and implementing equity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
