Taranaki Pathology Services provides high quality diagnostic pathology services to the community, health care professionals and their patients. We are a part of APHG a healthcare company committed to providing facilities and services that deliver exceptional care to its clients.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc. from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state of the art medical laboratory.
About the Role:
- Full on-job training on blood and other specimen extraction, collection, labelling and preservation techniques in preparation for laboratory analysis.
- Provide a professional customer service, serve as a link between health professionals, their patients and the laboratory.
- Permanent part-time role of 64 hours per fortnight.
- The ideal candidate will hold a QMLT in Phlebotomy or similar. However, for the right candidate, Taranaki Pathology Services will provide full on the job training programme in Phlebotomy while supporting you to become a Qualified Phlebotomy Practitioner with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
Previous Phlebotomy experience is not essential as long as you have:
- A positive and friendly approach to your work and demonstrate cultural and social sensitivity.
- Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
- Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
- Be highly motivated towards learning and development in order to develop technical competency in Phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures.
- A full New Zealand driver’s license.
- Fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
