Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is seeking a talented Principal Advisor to support senior leaders throughout the wider iwi organisation. This is an exciting position with an opportunity to share your media and communications expertise to enrich the lives of current and future generations of Ngāi Tahu Whānui.
The successful applicant will work closely with senior managers and Chief Executives across Te Rūnanga Group and as such this role requires an individual with high-level strategic communications experience and excellent relationship management skills. Experience in media management, creating engaging digital content, developing and implementing communications strategies, and analysing and reporting on engagement results is critical.
We are looking for confident, professional individual with:
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or public relations
- 7+ years’ experience in a senior communications role
- Extensive public relations and communications experience – particularly in media management and digital communications
- Extensive writing experience including speeches, columns, news articles, communications strategies
- Familiarity with the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to the work of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu
- A passion to work and engage with Papatipu Rūnanga and Ngāi Tahu whānau
The successful applicant will have a strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu Whānui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding of or an eagerness to learn and engage with Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori.
