About the Role

Our Procurement Manager role provides a fantastic opportunity to be part of a collaborative and motivated team that leads procurement activities across Pharmac and the wider health sector.

Working across a diverse business; we require a procurement all-rounder to lead exciting Pharmac procurement processes and commercial strategies for community medicines, hospital medicines and feeding into a wider programme around medical devices to ensure optimum value for money is gained. Advantageous to this will be a general understanding of machinery of government, public sector structure (particularly health) and function.

There is also opportunity within this role to drive Pharmac’s sustainable procurement initiatives. Pharmac is interested in the broader outcomes that could delivered from its procurements with a specific interest in improved environmental and social outcomes.

This is an internal/external facing role therefore requires excellent relationship management/negotiation skills as your engagement with medical suppliers will ensure value is optimised across the supplier base.

While we are primarily looking for individuals with procurement experience, we are open to receiving applicants with other relevant experience in the health care sector that can be utilised in our procurement activities. Although we are seeking a Procurement Manager, we are open to considering applications from candidates with any level of procurement experience. We are also happy to consider applications for part time work or job sharing arrangements.

About our Procurement Team

The Procurement Team is a forward-thinking, friendly team that wants to foster a sustainable medicines and medical devices market for the future of all New Zealanders. The team is relatively small team that sits within the Operations Directorate at Pharmac. It is a fantastic place to be at the centre of Pharmac’s commercial strategies for both medicines and medical devices.

While conducting procurement processes you will engage closely with a wide variety of other teams within Pharmac such as the Pharmaceutical and Device Funding Teams, Legal, Communications, Analysis, Medical and Implementation teams.
