Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
There will be up to two part-time positions; each about 0.5 FTE (Note: there is a minimum requirement of 0.4 FTE per position and we are seeking the equivalent of 1.0 FTE for the positions).
The purpose of this position is to provide high quality, research-based teaching and assessment, primarily for the Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology (GradDipAppPsych) Programme, but also for other Programmes within the School of Psychology.
The position will primarily support the School of Psychology, which is home to over 65 academic staff, including a number of research fellows, and over 390 post-graduate students pursuing wide-ranging aspects of psychology from cognitive neuroscience, animal cognition and sensory processing to indigenous, industrial and health psychology. The school has three applied programmes (clinical psychology, speech science, applied behaviour analysis) which support students to develop professional as well as research skills. Researchers in Psychology use both quantitative and qualitative methodologies and a wide range of technologies to study cognition and behaviour.
You will be expected to deliver the following:
- Design of teaching materials
- Teaching and Leaning
- Assessment and grading
- Effective communication and involvement with initiatives
- Leadership, including course coordination
Essential Qualifications and Knowledge include:
- PhD in Psychology
- Teaching experience (preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels)
- Teaching experience across a broad range of areas within the discipline of Psychology (preferably including Experimental, Developmental, Social, and Research Methods)
- Knowledge of the use of technologies to support learning and teaching; specifically, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, and Zoom.
- Demonstrated success at fully online teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and improving student outcomes and experience
- Capability to produce fully online resources
