About our Group

Te Poutāhū | Curriculum Centre sets the system-level learning for every child and student. Working between policy and customer facing functions, there is a significant political, stakeholder and public interest in the high performance of this group and the education curriculum and teaching workforce outcomes we seek for New Zealand.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Review of Achievement Standards project (RAS) will review and update assessment tools and resources for level 1, 2 and 3 subjects in line with current best practice.

The Project Coordinator is part of the RAS team, and supports the project in the planning, controlling and administration activities throughout the life of the project.

Mōhou ake | About you

We are looking for someone who is thoughtful, agile and adept at handling ambiguity and complexity. Our ideal candidate will take pride in producing high quality work and will be comfortable working independently to achieve defined objectives. You will be sensitive to cultural values and have a good understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

We want someone who has experience working in the project/programme space, managing and working across multiple projects and workstreams with competing pressures. You will have a proactive mindset and be able to identify and mitigate risks as they arise and engage with stakeholders.

You will have sharp interpersonal skills, superior writing skills, and will be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and representing the Ministry.

Experience and qualifications

It is desirable that candidates may have or be working towards a relevant tertiary qualification or project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE 2 Practitioner or PMP/CAPM certified). Candidates will also have knowledge and/or experience in:

• Experience in using project management methodologies, techniques, documentation and standards.
• Experience in working within the public sector and understanding of the political environment and how related issues should be managed.
• Experience in organising – identifying what matters, anticipating next steps, accurately delivering what was commissioned.
