Due to sustained growth in several exciting areas of our business and our strong involvement in a wide variety of projects across NZ, we are currently seeking intermediate to senior level Project/Design Managers with a positive, proactive attitude to join the Project Delivery Group in Auckland.

The roles will provide specialist project management services to a wide range of projects and clients. Responsibilities include planning and conducting independent work that may form part or all of the project management requirements on individual or a portfolio of projects. This will include specific services such as risk management, programming, financial tracking and project controls. It will also include providing project management support on projects lead by technical specialists or overall leadership of projects as required. In the role you will deliver these services to conform to both best practice for project management and T+T systems for quality project delivery.

Responsibilities for these roles include:

  • Work on a wide range of exciting projects that involve all aspects of civil infrastructure design.
  • Managing multidiscipline teams and sub consultants to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects.
  • Implementing and carrying out project controls including financial tracking and earned value reporting, programming and tracking progress of projects, risk management and the development of project specific processes and controls
  • Management and delivery of design packages for transport, energy, waste, commercial and water infrastructure projects.
  • Delivery of projects in respect to quality, risk, programme, delivery and financial performance.
  • Interfacing and coordinating outcomes from related disciplines such as geology, hydrology, structural, geotechnical engineering and contaminated land together with key stakeholders such as regulatory bodies and also assisting client relationship building.

Nā tōu rourou | What you’ll bring

You will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with the ability to work independently and show leadership in your work. You will be passionate about delivering projects and your work experience will include a relevant background in engineering related project or design management. As a key part of your role will be enabling delivery by a team of technical specialists, your experience will have included working in or managing multi-discipline teams of high performing people. Stakeholder negotiation, contractual and financial management and experience managing project timeframes is important as well as proven experience working with a variety of project management methodologies and best practice.

To be successful in these roles you will require excellent communication, both written and verbal, enjoy working as part of a team and have the flexibility to adapt quickly to changes. You will need to demonstrate strong logic and organisation in your approach to project management.

You will also have:

  • A project management qualification, such as PMP or Prince2, or be working towards one
  • Ideally you will have 5-8 years industry experience in civil engineering project management for the intermediate role or 10 years plus for the senior role
  • Preferred experience in a consulting environment – ideally design centric
  • Proven report writing capability
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • An innovative and collaborative approach
