He angitūtanga | About the role

The Te Tātai Atawhai Project has just launched within DOC and is bringing us in line with all of government best practice standards, updating our finance, asset management and procurement systems linking it all together with SAP S/4HANA. This has made our mahi more streamlined and we are able to work smarter and secure better Conservation outcomes. As an outcome of this Project we have new roles within the Procurement team.

As the Purchasing Officer you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of purchase requisitions, purchasing contracts, blocked invoices, and amendments to purchase orders as required. DOC’s mahi is varied and diverse and you will provide purchasing support for a variety of contracts including, but not limited to, cleaning, huts, tracks or bridges, road maintenance or pest control. You will provide support to internal stakeholders on these projects. You will work closely with the wider business share information, processes, and system improvements.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

With your previous financial system experience you will have good attention to detail with great computer literacy. You will be known for your strong written and verbal communication skills and collaborative working style.

You will also:

  • Have knowledge of purchasing or procurement principles and processes
  • Have analytical, conceptual and critical thinking skills
  • Understand ERP systems – preferably SAP
  • Have well-developed computer skills including MS Office Word and Excel
  • proactively develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders
