  • Part time 0.8 FTE opportunity (32 hours per week)

Our Medical Ward in Southland Hospital is currently looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our fabulous team on a part-time, fixed term basis to cover one of our team’s secondment to another role within the hospital. Our team is focused on patient centred care, so your kind nature and ability to adapt to rapidly changing clinical situations will ensure your ability to slot into our work family. Integral to this role is the ability to initiate and accept responsibility and work autonomously when appropriate or necessary

This is a 38 bed ward that meets the needs of patients presenting with a full range of acute medical conditions. We pride ourselves on having a strong focus on customer service, and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork.

Capability development is a high priority for us – there is ample opportunity for professional development. Further, learning opportunities present themselves on the ward every day, proactive and engaged learners wanting to take full advantage of the opportunities in the environment will have plenty of opportunities to enhance their repertoire of skills. Our team is dedicated, professional and on hand to provide you with mentorship and support.

About You

We’re looking for a Registered Nurse who is organised, friendly, calm, resilient, open to change, and an excellent communicator, able to work independently and at the same time genuinely interested in the best outcome for both patient and team.

You must have:-

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
  • Previous acute experience is advantageous, and you must have at least 1 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
