About our Team/ Mō te tīma
Women’s and Children’s Health is a mid-size teaching and research department with 80 administration, teaching and research staff. The department comprises two sections: Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics.
The Role/Te mahi
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Research Assistant position is required to provide effective and efficient administration and coordination support in three key areas: research activities, health and safety, and administration of the New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit (NZPSU) and providing administrative support for the Department’s research programme.
- Effectively managing and administering all research procedures and processes for academic staff and research students within the Department.
- Attending to the administrative needs of the New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit (NZPSU).
- Providing administrative support for research within the Department.
- Providing administrative support for the Research Committee.
- Managing the applications of the health and safety policy and to ensure that health and safety practices are observed in all workplace activities within the Department.
- Ensuring that all duties are completed efficiently, accurately, in a timely manner and in line with University and Department procedures, policies and guidelines.
Skills and Experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
- Experience or a working understanding of research in an educational setting.
- Significant experience in an administrative environment is required.
- Computer competence is required to an advanced level in word processing, excel, PowerPoint and image editing.
- Experience in database management – Endnote, student management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential and sensitive material.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
