Accountabilities

Recruitment • Assist with the recruitment of collision repair workers, construction

workers and pesticide users/applicators and their employers for
involvement in a large scientific study.

  • Identifying, contacting (usually in person) and arranging visits to

businesses/worksites to recruit business owners, managers and workers

to be involved in the study.

  • Assist with recruitment of study participants and data collection for

other research projects at RCHH, when required.

Technical Assistance • Provide technical assistance with exposure monitoring work in various

industrial environments, including preparation of sampling equipment
and materials in the laboratory and maintenance and operation of
various types of exposure monitoring equipment in the field.

  • On completion of field work assist with laboratory/setup work,

including preparation of a wide variety of sample types for storage,

transport and/or analysis.

Records

Keep detailed records of various aspects of the sampling conducted.

Interviewing

Complete questionnaires face-to-face with study participants in the field, at
RCHH’s offices (if based in Wellington) or elsewhere (if not based in

Wellington), or over the phone, including following up with workers
previously recruited.

Project Assistance

Assist nursing and project staff with clinical testing and biological sample
collection (but not directly conducting tests/collecting samples, unless

qualified/certified to do so).

Research Support • Assist in preparing progress reports for funders and, where appropriate,

research papers for publication.

  • Assist in developing literature reviews, where appropriate.
  • Collect research data and, where applicable assist colleagues in

quantitative data analyses.
