The Department of Women’s and Children’s Health is one of the largest academic departments that make up the Otago Medical School – Dunedin Campus.

The role/Te mahi
Through Health Research Council funding for 2022 – 2025, we seek to employ a Research Fellow to lead work on conducting a randomised controlled trial of novel methods of administering the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine.
The trial aims to recruit 200 students in both 2022 and 2023 in Dunedin and Auckland, with follow up 12 months later. The study will employ casual nursing and administrative staff during active study periods February to June each year.
As a Research Fellow, you will lead co-ordination of the study sites in Dunedin and Auckland. In Auckland, an Assistant Research Fellow will be employed, who will be responsible for management of casual nursing and administrative support staff there and will report to the Research Fellow in Dunedin.
The study will also be recruiting health science students who are commencing professional programmes in Dunedin or Auckland in 2023 and 2024.
- Research management experience, preferably including clinical trials.
- Demonstrated skills in document preparation, with experience in or capacity to undertake ethics submissions.
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills applicable to a research context dealing with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong interest and preferably experience with aspects of research, including critically reviewing literature, data management and analysis, and preparation of manuscripts and other forms of dissemination.
