Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a 0.5 FTE Senior Administrator on fixed term contract. The role will be responsible to the Director/Science Leader, Veracity Spearhead Project (https://veracity.wgtn.ac.nz/) and is located within the School of Information Management. The role operates as part of a team and performs a key administration and co-ordination function to assist the Director/Science Leader to effectively deliver the goals and objectives of the Spearhead Project, a science-led initiative designed to build and develop transformative veracity technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsive, proactive, high quality administration and management support for the Director/Science Leader.
  • Management of the Veracity Lab office and its resourcing, member, and visitor requirements.
  • Enabling communications.
  • Events coordination and assistance.

You will be a customer-focused individual who loves being in action, tackling new projects and solving problems across a range of administration areas. You can also take the initiative and have an excellent manner with people. In short, you have the ability to “Make Stuff Happen”.

You are a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You have effective time and self-management skills, are engaged and dynamic, and able to anticipate and effectively meet deadlines. A growth mind set and the ability to remain calm under pressure are natural qualities.

Key Requirements:

  • Excellent self-management and experience within a high performing team operating in a dynamic context.
  • Ability to quickly form effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders and to adjust to different audiences.
  • Ability to use technology effectively and efficiently, including a wide variety of software.
