Council is developing and strengthening our partnerships with our Pacific community and we are seeking an exceptional Senior Advisor to join our team. This is a highly influential opportunity, one which will deliver strategy, sound advice and tangible outcomes.

This is a key role which will support Council to deliver strong and enduring partnership relationships with Pacific community leaders, individuals and groups to achieve agreed stategic priorities. Not only will you develop and foster exceptional relationships, you will also thrive on delivery in a fast-paced and developing environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Council’s Pacific Peoples strategy and work programme in partnership with the Pacific community
- Provide expert cultural advice to the Executive Leadership Team, managers and staff at all levels within Council
- Prepare and present reports to the Executive Leadership Team, Councillors, Council and Council committees
All about you
We are looking for a politically savvy senior advisor who has significant experience in the delivery of programmes to communities; including consultation and engagement expertise with Pacific Peoples, communities and groups. You will be extremely adept at working in partnership with individuals, communities and government departments to deliver Council’s Pacific strategy and work programme.
Ideally, you’ll bring experience in local government, but you could also be joining us from central government. You’ll be excited at the prospect of being able to see the results of your work almost immediately. You’ll be energetic and organised with an analytical mind; your interpersonal skills will influence and engage others. Your strong relationship skills will enable you to work collaboratively across Council and with our broader strategic partners.
You’ll need to show us that you have:
- Understanding and commitment to the needs of our Pacific community
- Experience in the design, development and implementation of strategies, initiatives and programmes within a treaty partnership setting
- Significant experience in the delivery of programmes to communities
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
This is a flexible part time role with a minimum of 20 hours and the opportunity for up to 32 hours per week.
