At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga – Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About us

Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko – Infrastructure and Digital – Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga – Ministry of Education, leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system.

You will join our ICT Project Services team. We take pride in our strong delivery commitment and the high standard of work it achieves.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

We are working on significant and exciting initiatives that will make a meaningful difference to the quality of education services provided to New Zealanders.

In this role, you will be responsible for project managing the transition in continuous improvement of a large system replacement project. Working closely with the Programme Director, your activities will include:

• Ensuring a smooth transition of this key project
• Providing expert project management advice and quality assurance
• Meeting all project deliverables
• Completing all projects artefacts
• Establishing strong relationships across a wide range of stakeholders

Mōhou ake | About you

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager who has prior experience of successfully delivering on technical and applications focussed projects.

To be successful in this role, you will also have

• Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering large scale application implementations
• Good understanding of Government mechanisms
• Good understanding of Project Management methodologies ideally Prince 2 certification
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work to tight deadlines
• The ability to influence and challenge
