Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

As Strategic Procurement Manager at UC, you will look after the entire procurement function, responsible for strategic leadership and oversight of all strategic procurement management. If you know what it takes to lead and motivate a team to achieve operational excellence, then this role might be your new challenge in 2022!

Based in the Christchurch at UC’s park-like campus in Ilam, you will report to the Director of Finance and manage a team of 10 direct reports. This is a position where you will enjoy having real impact and influence. You will be accountable for the proactive delivery of UC’s procurement strategy for procurement of goods across the region and further abroad, leading and coaching a diverse team to achieve agreed objectives. You will engage with a broad range of key stakeholders at senior leadership levels, both internally and externally.

Additionally, you will take oversight and accountability of Procurement processes moving through the stages, ensuring probity requirements and UC’s values are met.

Key accountabilities are:

  • Leadership – inspire and motivate teams to lift performance and engagement, building capability within the immediate and broader teams
  • Health and Safety – uphold and contribute to UC’s strong health and safety culture
  • Lead and develop procurement policy and operational plans – ensuring objectives are met and in line within UC Procurement Strategy.
  • Productivity improvements – engaging with your team to unlock operational efficiency.
  • Operational excellence – accountable for KPI reporting, ensure legislative requirements are met and oversee the goals to operate an optimised network
  • Commercial Acumen – strong commercial literacy and ability to work with UC’s legal team
  • Collaboration – influence and deliver strong collaboration with different stakeholders and across multiple business units

Procurement work across the entire range of internal stakeholders, including operational and strategic project leaders.
