The Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) group has overall responsibility and ownership for managing KiwiRail’s rolling stock assets, including mainline and shunt locomotives, freights and specialist wagons, containers, passenger carriages and other rolling stock vehicles.

Reporting to the Performance Engineer – Strategic, the Reliability Engineer – Strategic is responsible for engineering assistance to ensure reliability, availability and cost targets are achieved. This is an entry-level engineering role, in additional to supporting front-line teams, to conduct root-cause analysis of top performance issues, develop and facilitate mitigations. The role also has a proactive element to identify maintenance delivery improvements through engineering & process initiatives.

Not only will our ideal candidate be detail oriented, with great time management and planning skills, they will be able to work both autonomously and within a team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or related discipline

or

  • Rolling stock maintenance experience with a supporting tertiary or trade qualification in engineering/mechanical maintenance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and computer-based skills.
  • Strong level of customer service and communication skills
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritise tasks, be flexible and resourceful, proactive and professional in manner with a high degree of initiative
