Student Environmental Health Officer (up to 24 months)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to grow and learn with our Environmental Health Team at Campbelltown City Council.

Under the guidance of our experienced and friendly Environmental Health Officers, you will learn about environmental health surveillance, investigations and community education programs. The role will include but not limited to the following:

  • Food Business Inspections
  • Public Health Inspections (Cooling Towers, Beauty Salons, Skin Penetration, Hairdressers, Public Swimming Pools)
  • Inspection of Boarding Houses and Sex Premises
  • On Site Waste Water Management Systems
  • Animal Keeping
  • Noise, Air and Pollution Investigations
  • Investigate Unhealthy Premises (i.e. hoarder and squalor)

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • The ability to be innovative, self-motivated and to work in a team environment
  • Undertaking a Bachelor of Natural Science (Environmental Health) and/or equivalent tertiary course
  • Sound organisational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and with limited supervision.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Knowledge of the Food Act 2003, Local Government Act 1993, Public Health Act 2010, and other legislation and standards relevant to food, public health and environmental issues.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or medical contraindication upon commencement
