Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About the role

The primary purpose of the Student Advisor – Student Voice is to support and empower students to develop skills, knowledge and attributes that ensure Ara is provided with an effective and constructive student voice. The Student Advisor – Student Voice ensures student interests are represented and their needs are catered for. The Student Advisor – Student Voice will be the conduit to assist students and Ara with continuous improvement and the creation of developments and solutions informed by the student voice wherever the students are. The structure of the student voice at Ara is informed by both the student body and the needs of the organisation which will change over time. The Student Advisor – Student Voice leads the Student Council team providing support and oversight of this portfolio. Conducting research to obtain relevant information to assist student representatives to participate more fully, provide constructive feedback, and develop appropriate submissions regarding student issues or concerns are also part of the role.


In addition to the JD duties detailed here: Student Accommodation On-Call Back up

This role will work closely with the Manager Student Accommodation and Otautahi house team to provide back-up leadership and management; cover leave arrangements (shared with the Coordinator Community development); Provide after-hours on-call duties if required two nights per fortnight; Maintain current knowledge of the workings, systems, processes, resident community, and needs of the student residence.
