Are you as a Teacher for our After School and Summer Program, what we are looking for?
We are looking for a Teacher for our After School and Summer Program who is a mature, professional who has worked in the area school systems, after school programs, boys/girls clubs, summer camp programs or other educational areas that are applicable. The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program will support and provide fun activities for school age children after school and full time during the summer.
The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program will work with small groups of children ages 5 – 12 years old. You will provide supervision, enrichment and academic instruction/support to students to help create a positive learning environment and allow for students’ personal, social, and academic development before, during and after a typical school day. The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program will interact regularly with children, parents and staff members from diverse backgrounds.
This is a position that has “after school” hours, and full time working hours during the summer, school vacations, school observed holidays and snow days when BFELC is open. The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program must be available to work Monday through Friday from either 2:00 pm or 3:00 pm up to 5:30 pm (about 12-15 hours per week) and also during the summer full time from 9:00 to 5:30 pm

- Assist students with homework.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program must be able to create a fun and safe learning environment for after school activities.
- Be prepared to implement activities daily.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program must prepare materials and equipment for instructional and fun activities.
- As an Teacher for our After School and Summer Program you will lead small group activities that are age appropriate in an atmosphere where students are required to be actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences to help enhance the social, physical, and academic advancement of children in your care.
- Ensure that the site is kept clean, sanitized and organized.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program will assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, daily rosters, logbook documentation, and attendance records.
- Assist in completing child and program evaluations.
- Punctuality is a must!
What is required for skills and experience for the Teacher for our After School and Summer Program?
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program
must be fully vaccinated and boosted from COVID-19!
- You need to be at least 18 years old.
- You will be required to submit consent for a thorough background check, (Massachusetts CORI) and fingerprinting. You must complete required training upon hire/orientation and maintain compliance with all Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations.
- Proof of your MMR immunization.
- Physical within the last 12 months.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program should have some experience working with school age children.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program must show demonstrated experience guiding positive youth development.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Must have excellent communication and organization skills.
- The Teacher for our After School and Summer Program must possess love, care, and concern for children and enjoy being with and working with children.

We are a nonprofit providing affordable childcare and we are located in the Mason Wright Senior Living building at 74 Walnut Street in Springfield since 1999.
